Mykhailo Hrushevskyi climbed the stairs of his house at 9 Pankivska street hundreds of times. In the fifteenth year of his activity (1992–2006), the scientists of the Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Historical Memorial Museum climbed to their museum Olympus — the opening of the exposition. And now visitors to the Great Ukrainian Museum climb these authentic stairs every day. "I show my great respect to the people who returned Mykhailo Serhiyevich to his home, to Kyiv! Grateful and touched! Sincerely!", the first visitor to the Museum, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, left these words in the Book of Honored Guests. Hrushevsky "returned" to his own home, and the house at 9 Pankivska Street returned to the revival of the status of a true national and cultural center. We started when the museum collection included one unique exhibit - the House of the Hrushevskys. It remains so unique even now, but it has been filled with an equally valuable collection of museum objects, which already has about 7,000 items: memorial furniture, household items, books from the home library, family photos, works of art from the Hrushevsky family home. We don't always realize how we managed to collect it (no!, don't collect it - put it back in its place!). This made it possible to recreate the interiors of the eminent scientist's apartment exclusively with memorial items - of no typology! Only after looking at their work from a distance, through the eyes of enthusiastic and surprised visitors, they understood - we succeeded! We succeeded, because we were supported by numerous Friends of the museum, we were supported by the words of the famous TV journalist St.in memory of Borys Hryvachevsky: "And there will be a holiday on Pankivska!" Young colleagues who have joined our group have the opportunity to take advantage of numerous scientific works on the life and creative heritage of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, which came out during the 20 years of Ukraine's independence from the pen of academic historians, literary critics, and political scientists. We paved the "path" to the understanding of this unique figure with our "legs" and started when the only collection about Hrushevsky was published in Ukraine by the "Veselka" publishing house - "Velykiy Ukrainets". And today, our thorough scientific developments are highly appreciated by the same academic historians with whom we walked side by side all these years. Nowadays, it is unthinkable to imagine the "family" of Hrushev experts without the scientists of our museum. The museum has gained well-deserved authority among its demanding colleagues: the mini-exhibition "Mykhailo and Kateryna Hrushevski: dialogue" was awarded the first prize of the 1st All-Ukrainian Museum Festival in Dnipropetrovsk (2005); the exhibition project "Clock from Mykhailo Hrushevskyi's office: secrets and discoveries" won the third prize at the 3rd All-Ukrainian Museum Festival (2011). The collected unique collection, the original exposition, and the scientific studios of the museum staff are organically woven into our awareness of the main mission. We revived Pankivska Street, 9, we revived the real Ukrainian hearth that was the estate, the family House of the Hrushevskys at the beginning of the 20th century — and it is our sacred duty to preserve and support this revived fire. We have no right to let him fade away once again, as it happened to him.We dream and believe that, as under the Hrushevskyi, Ukrainian streams will flow to Pankivsk, 9, creating a great Ukrainian river.
